A side effect of diarrhea is dehydration and not getting treatment can have serious health implications. Tiredness, dry mucous membranes, headaches, faster heart beats, increased thirst, dryness of the mouth, reduced urination, and dizziness are a few symptoms of dehydration in adults.

Improved sanitation, clean drinking water, and washing hands with a cleanser can help to avoid communicable dehydration. Breastfeeding for six months is additionally prescribed as is immunization against Rotavirus. Oral rehydration arrangement (ORS), which is ideal water with salt and sugar, can be used as a treatment for children. However, diarrhea can also be treated at home like mentioned earlier.

The curd is one of the best remedies for diarrhea. It is a good source of live bacterial cultures like the Lactobacillus acidophilus and Bifidobacterium. It helps to restore the good bacteria in your intestine and destroy the bad bacteria causing diarrhea. Two bowls of yogurt a day can help you get over diarrhea. You can also add a banana to your yogurt bowl for additional benefits.

Ginger can help to treat food poisoning and help to ease cramps and stomach pain. Grate a small piece of ginger, mix it with 1 tsp of honey and eat the mix. It helps to promote the release of gastric juices and boost digestion. Make sure you do not drink water immediately after eating the mixture.

Drinking ginger tea a few times each day can help to cure diarrhea. You can make fresh ginger tea or use powdered ginger. To make fresh tea, slice a small piece of ginger and add it to a cup of water. Boil the water and take it off the heat. Strain the tea into a cup and add honey. Mix it and drink it up.

Fenugreek seeds
Fenugreek seeds are a popular home remedy for diarrhea as these are a rich source of mucilage content. This mucilage is known to be a strong anti-diarrheal. You can mix 1 Tsp of fenugreek seeds with a spoon of yogurt and eat it. Another option is to mix ½ a tsp of cumin seeds and roasted fenugreek seeds with 2 tsp of yogurt. Mix it well and eat it thrice a day for faster relief from diarrhea.

Bananas have high pectin content, which is why doctors recommend eating ripe bananas to get relief from diarrhea. Bananas are a rich source of potassium – an electrolyte that supports other important body functions. Eat a couple of bananas a day till you get rid of diarrhea.

Apple cider vinegar
Another successful and easy home remedy for diarrhea is apple cider vinegar. It helps in fighting against microbes that cause diarrhea. In a glass of plain water add 1 Tsp of apple cider. Drink this solution once or twice every day till your diarrhea stops.

Chamomile tea
Chamomile contains properties that help to stop spasms, thus providing respite from stomach pains that usually accompany any kind of stomach issues like diarrhea. It helps to reduce intestinal swelling too. To make chamomile tea, steep 1 Tsp of chamomile flowers with 1 tsp of peppermint leaves in 1 cup of boiling water for 10 minutes. Strain the mix and drink this tea a few times a day. If you don’t have fresh chamomile flowers and peppermint leaves, chamomile tea flavors are available in the market.
