  • Extracts of anti-inflammatory herbs: Extracts of household ingredients like turmeric, grape seed, flax seed, basil, and ginger have the medicinal property of fighting inflammation and infection when taken daily in small quantities 2-3 times a day.
    • Grape seed powder: To treat lupus skin rash, consume two tablespoons of grape seed powder a day. This herb helps protect the blood vessels and promotes blood circulation.
    • Flaxseed oil: Omega-3-rich flaxseed oil should be consumed in the quantity of 3 teaspoons daily to nourish the skin.
    • Turmeric powder: Turmeric has excellent healing properties and is extensively used to treat skin problems. Consume at least one teaspoon of turmeric powder daily. You can choose to add it to milk along with a spoon of honey.
    • Coconut oil: This ingredient has long chains of fatty acids that help decrease the negative reaction of the immune system and stabilize the system. If you are affected by lupus, consume about two tablespoons of virgin coconut oil every day.
    • Herbs with anti-inflammatory properties: Spices like garlic, ginger, oregano, basil, thyme, and rosemary are known to contain antioxidants and help fight inflammation. You can choose to sprinkle some of them in your meals. These herbs have the effect of internally curing a lupus skin rash.
    • Pine bark extract: Pygenol is a substance found in pine bark which cures pain and swelling in joints and boosts blood circulation. 30 mg of pine bark extract should be taken with yogurt every day.
    • Vitamin D: For lupus skin rash, vitamin D supplements happen to be one of the most effective remedies.
  • Avoid foods that are difficult to digest: Gluten-rich food and legumes should be avoided as they are difficult to digest. Gluten is a protein found in wheat, barley, and most food made of flour. It is known to aggravate gut issues related to lupus. Chocolate can also have a similar effect if you are fighting this autoimmune condition and must be avoided. Apart from this, identify the food items that trigger adverse reactions and cut them out from your diet. Also, actively avoid Alfalfa in all forms as it is known to worsen the condition for those affected by lupus.
  • Avoid food known to increase inflammation: Trans-fat, sugar, caffeine, and alcohol are such foods and should be cut down from your diet.
  • Limited exposure to sunlight: It is advisable not to subject yourself to direct sunlight for more than 30mins as the UV rays in sunlight may trigger the autoimmune reaction and worsen the lupus skin rash. However, you should get 15 minutes of sunshine as this will boost your immune system.
  • Include food items that maintain skin moisture: Certain food items can have healing effects on the skin, thus helping relieve skin rashes. Avocado, seeds, and nuts like chica, walnuts and almonds, olive oil, cucumber, and melon are some of the food that helps enrich the skin. Wild-caught fish is a very rich source of Omega 3. Also, ensure that you drink plenty of water. Herbal tea or green tea has antioxidants that fight allergies and inflammation. Adding a few cups can be a good idea for curing that lupus skin rash
  • Bone broth protein: This is an ancestral recipe which our forefathers made from the bones of the animals they hunted. The bones are boiled to make a broth. Similar ingredients are available in bone broth protein powder available in most markets. It contains collagen and gelatin, which reinforce the gut lining and the intestinal membrane. Add one to two scoops of this to your daily diet to reduce the symptoms of lupus.
  • Improve sleeping habits: Good quality sleep of 8 to 9 hours a day speeds up the recovery process and improves the brain’s functioning. It is also the best way to relieve stress.
  • Reduce stress: Mental and emotional stress can result in a life riddled with disease. Learn to relax. Take up hobbies and activities that distract you from the daily worries. Meditation and yoga have the reputation of being exceedingly effective in combating stress
  • Add magnesium-rich food to diet: Green leafy veggies, dairy products, and pumpkin seeds are rich in magnesium and vitamin B, both of which help fasten the healing process of the body.
