Best Tried and Tested Facial Hair Removal Methods

The hair on your head sure looks great! But it is not always a pretty sight when it grows wildly all over your face. Some people deal with dark facial hair while some deal with an increased facial hair growth. Either way, facial hair is troublesome, however, there are certain tried and tested methods that can help you get rid of your facial hair and reveal the skin that is underneath them. Here are some of the best facial hair removal techniques that have been in use for a long time and are still being used by many:

Waxing
A warm wax can be evenly distributed over the skin where the facial hair is to be found. Wax is spread in the direction of the facial hair and is then pulled out towards the opposite direction so that the hair is plucked out of the roots or right from the follicles. Cold wax can be applied as well, but it is a more painful procedure. Hence, hot wax is recommended as it is more effective and the effects are known to last longer.

It is a low budget method that removes facial hair for a good amount of time. When the hair does grow back, it is softer; however, you need to get it done again after two to three weeks, depending upon your growth. This procedure may lead to ingrown hair and there is a risk of burning your skin in case it is too sensitive to the hot wax.

Threading
Threading is one of the oldest methods of hair removal. It is usually done using a cotton thread that is twisted around the root of the hair and then plucked out of the skin with a quick pull. It could be done on the eyebrows, around them, above the lips or even around the hairline or the sideburns. It lasts for about three to four weeks or sometimes even less than that.

It is a relatively painless method. One might feel uncomfortable while the hair is plucked out one by one. However, it is one of the most sanitary methods of all. Also since it is a highly complex procedure, a professional or an experienced person should perform it.

Plucking
This method is very simple. All you have to do is take a pair of tweezers and pluck out the unwanted hair or hairs, as per your need. However, it is a painstakingly slow process. Therefore, it should only be used for areas that do not have much hair and only require minimum plucking. This could either be the eyebrows or the upper lips. It is an ideal method for those who need to shape their eyebrows.

Laser hair removal
This treatment is a permanent fix for those suffering from unwanted hair. This is what makes it one of the best facial hair removal methods. This can be done on any of the body parts; however, the procedure takes a little longer since it occurs in a number of sittings and appointments, but the results are great.

One needs to go for repeated sessions for a permanent solution. It usually takes up to twelve sittings and each sitting can cost around $200 or more, depending on the clinic.

Electrolysis
Electrolysis is yet another permanent solution to the facial hair problem. What makes it one of the best facial hair removers is that the fix is permanent and leaves zero chances for those hair to grow back.

Creams
Depilatory creams can be applied on areas of unwanted hair and are then wiped away along with the hair itself. These are usually creams that contain many kinds of ingredients and a soothing gel or cream. These may be available at your nearest drug stores and can be purchased at low prices. They might have a little pungent smell but there are some creams that come with god fragrances. However, before you go ahead, do a patch test to see if you are allergic to the cream.

Topical drugs
Talk to your dermatologist about taking these prescriptions since they slow down the growth level. Although not one of the best facial hair removers, these medicines take a good amount of time but deliver positive results. If one is patient enough and does not want any physical harm done to the skin, these drugs are your best bet.

A lot of options regarding some of the best facial hair removal methods have been laid out for you. Depending on your choice of treatment and your skin type, you can choose what suits your skin the best. It also depends on how much you are ready to spend on your facial hair. The prices for each of these treatments vary widely. Laser and electrolysis treatments will cost you a lot of money while the other domestic methods are comparatively cheap. So, consider all your options and make the right choice since your face is a very sensitive part of the body and the wrong choice can cost you heavily.
